The Folk Tree

The Folk Tree in Pasadena, CA offers an assortment of Mexican folk art and crafts; owner Rocky Behr claims that "the great joy of [her] life is traveling remote villages of Mexico to gather the amazing spectacular work of artisans living there." In addition to the array of indigenous goods that you can find at this jewel of a shop tucked away on the outskirts of Los Angeles County is oilcloth- of course! The Folk Tree has offered the public a variety of oilcloth prints for many years and Oilcloth International would like to thank them for their many years of support and patronage!

Pining for Pinning

Oilcloth International has joined the Pinterest, a new kind of social networking and image adoring website that has grown exponentially in both popularity and recognition over a short period of time. In a recent article titled "This Is Everything You Need To Know About Pinterest," author Jordan Crook examines the most recent web phenomenon that is Pinterest. Crook explains that "the questions never end [regarding how Pinterest "stack[s] up against the big guys [like tumblr, Facebook, and twitter]", mainly because Pinterest kind of came out of left field and threw the entire model on its head. It's not for women, but it is mainly women...We all want to better understand it, especially considering that the network is still building itself out."

Here are some of the most interesting facts about Pinterest that Crook offers readers:

  • The number of Pinterest users to visit the site daily has gone up 145 percent since the beginning of 2012.
  • Pinterest user growth is better than that of Facebook and Twitter at the same point in their history.
  • Brands are having a helluva time leveraging Pinterest - Better Homes & Gardens has 25,000+ followers on Pinterest, compared to 21,000 on Twitter.
It's clear that Pinterest is quickly gaining an influence amongst both brands and consumers! Check out our Pinterest here and make sure to get your own, follow us, and join in on the fun!
